One of Budapest's main squares will now be named "Mother Teresa"
In commemoration of Mother Teresa’s Beatification Day, Mrs. Liri Berisha - founder and president of Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation, was invited to a special ceremony where a very familiar and dear square to the citizens of Budapest was named after the Albanian humanist, Mother Teresa. In this square, XII District, the Hungarian authorities erected a statue of Mother Teresa in honor of her image.
The event was held under the auspices of the Vatican Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Alberto Bottari de Castello, Hungarian Cardinal Dr. Peter Erdo and the wife of the President of Hungary Ms. Anita Herczegh.
Mrs. Liri Berisha, founder of Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation, and Mrs. Anita Herczegh, First Lady of Hungary, had the honor and pleasure to unveil together the plaque containing the name of Albanian humanist Mother Teresa, which at the same time is the name by which the site will be recognized from now on by Hungarian citizens.
This ceremony was greeted by the Vatican's Apostolic Nuncio who described the life of Mother Teresa and honored the image of the humanist for Her work.
While Ms. Berisha, among others, spoke of Mother Teresa's childhood, her family and her human values. Also Ms. Berisha brought to the participants important moments of Mother Teresa's relationship with her homeland, Albania, which despite communist dictatorship attitude, she neither forgot nor abandoned.
The Ambassador of Albania in Budapest as well as representatives from the city of Budapest greeted the participants.
This activity was followed by a visit to Mother Teresa's Missionary of Charity in Budapest, where Mrs. Berisha became acquainted with the work of the missionaries to help people in need.
At the end, Mrs. Berisha and First Lady of Hungary, high state officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Budapest, church representatives as well as many believers participated in an organized mass by Vatican Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Alberto Bottari de Castello and Hungarian Cardinal Dr. Peter Erdo in honor of Mother Teresa at Budapest Basilica.
