On the occasion of 100th anniversary of birth of Mother Teresa, Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation has organized many activities in Albania and abroad. An important day on this year dedicated to Mother Teresa is 19 October, Mother Teresa Beatification Day.
On the occasion of Mother Teresa Beatification, at the premises of the National Historical Museum was promoted the book "Albanian Saint" an edition of National Historical Museum in collaboration with Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation and the documentary "Icon of Love" a co-operation of Albanian Public Television and film director Kreshnik Hashorva.
Articles included in this publication are mainly memories of meetings from people who have escorted Mother Teresa in Albania. These memories are personal experiences, but despite this fact, they also remain invaluable documents for history. The book is accompanied by a CD where are registered the poems written by Mother Theresa, and masterfully interpreted by prominent artists of our scene Tinka Kurti, Margarita Xhepa and Rosa Anagnosti.
Mr. Luan Malltezi, director of the National Historical Museum held the opening speech that reminds so Mother Teresa: "In the history of mankind there are many people who occupy a deserved place in the memory of generations. In between them stands the outstanding Albanian humanist, Mother Teresa. With the poor was even Mother Teresa, she was raised as a Catholic missionary to soften this "wound", and help protect ordinary people rather than promote abomination and violence, but through love and understanding for each other. Mother Teresa became a symbol of this war and absorbing people all over the world. "
Then, Mrs. Berisha, Founder and President of Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation during her speech said: "Memories are a piece of eternity, but when they relate to the mission of Albanian woman, nobelist's Mother Teresa , then we do not talk for a particle, but for a whole set of values, impressions that enrich our live now and forever. She went on remembering so Mother Teresa during a visit to the house of Mother Teresa Sisters': "I was touched to see how Mother Teresa stopped at every bed and caressing someone, helping another to cover , or put her hand on their foreheads. In an instant, she turns and asks: "Will you do this work, if you were asked to do it?" and not giving me time to answer back, shaking her hands, as if she didn't want to hear what I wanted to say she said: "No, I don't want an answer, because you can not give it now, it needs time to prepare the soul." I have often thought that question. Even today, if anyone asks me, I would hesitate to answer because in order to do a job, you need to have soul. In every meeting there was something to learn from Mother Teresa." Among those who have written their memories in this book was even Mon Signor Rrok Mirëdita who after a meeting with Mother Teresa remembers her saying: From that meeting I have taken with me the amusement feeling by her simplicity of expression and her gestures and the smile that she had while communicating with others."
Also in the promotion of the documentary" Icons of Love" Mr. Petra Beci, director of TVSH and Kreshnik Hashorva, film director said: "This will not be the only documentary about family, life and work of Mother Teresa, but other documentaries will follow it."
Walking in the footsteps of her life and work, means knowing more about the good, turn small droplets of hope and courage into gratitude toward the good work in the service of humanity.
